Big Pharma is at it again

Big Pharma is at it again and this time 12,000 children, all volunteers, ages 3 to 8, are expected to be injected with a new swine flu vaccine when US clinical trials begin in August.  According to a news report, the children will be given either a vaccine or a placebo and will be monitored through office visits and by telephone. The study will last 42 days and follow-up calls will continue after that.

Fast tracking an experimental drug without thorough testing may result in unanticipated side effects without effectively eliminating or curtailing the anticipated Swine Flu.  The goal is to have the H1N1 vaccine available by October 2009, should it be needed.

In Europe, the European Medicines Agency is allowing drug companies to skip testing in large numbers of people before the vaccine is approved.  Typically, flu vaccines are tested on hundreds of people for several weeks or months, to ensure the immune system produces enough antibodies to fight the infection.

The winter flu season is fast approaching and here are four things you must do immediately to avoid the flu:

Wash your hands often.  Most surfaces, including skin, doorknobs, tabletops, shopping cart handles, change, currency and more are convenient germ spreaders so keep your hands free of sneaky viruses by washing your hands frequently with soapy, warm water.

Avoid touching your face.  You would be surprised how often your fingers touch your face:  an itch, a rub, a pick can quickly transfer little critters that hide under fingernails into your system.

Eat 1 to 2 cups of raw vegetables daily.  Finely chopped raw vegetables are delicious when used as a side with scrambled eggs, broiled chicken breasts and salad greens.  Eating 51% raw, according to the recent documentary, Food Matters, is the key to maintaining better health.  Tiny, delectable morsels of raw onion, broccoli, carrots, peppers, cucumbers (the Persian cukes are my fav), taste amazing and your body craves this type of nourishment.

Take Vitamin C supplements.  Rev up your immune system with Vitamin C.  According to the scientists featured on the highly acclaimed documentary, Food Matters, large doses of Vitamin C daily is one of the best choices to protect our bodies, reverse disease and maintain optimal health.
