Is the 40 Day Water Fast Diet for You?

Summer is here and if you’re like me, you have probably been thinking it’s time to shed a few unwanted pounds. There are lots of diet choices but there is one that has recently caught my eye thanks to a long-time Facial Magic user.

Bev wrote saying she’s been on the water diet. Well, that got my attention. My first email back to her was what type of water are you drinking?  She responded that it was filtered water. She proceeded to provide me with food choices (silly me, I didn’t realize she was eating food) along with her weight loss results.

A true water fast means ZERO calorie intake which means that this path is not for everyone.

A fast can be strenuous mentally as well as physically. Whether you choose a 24 hour fast, a 3 day fast or a 40 day fast, you will want to be educated on how to successfully complete the fast and how to reintroduce real food back into your body.

There are medical case reports addressing diabetes, lymphoma and other maladies that use water fasting to help patients feel better and optimize their overall health. Published papers demonstrate remarkable results for treating high blood pressure. Research continues and there are lots of satisfied customers that are supervised medically.

Bev has lost 20 pounds using a type of water diet fast that allows the consumption of raw veggies, steamed or cooked green vegetables, eggplant, mushrooms, peppers, onions, tomatoes, carrots, cauliflower, beans and other legumes. No animal protein and up to four serving of fruit daily. Yay Bev!

Vegan eating plans are usually low calorie consumption. After all, a cup of broccoli is only 30 calories. A cup of mushrooms has 16 calories. A cup of carrots has 50 calories.  So, a low calorie diet plus increased water consumption equals weight loss, better looking skin and a real sense of accomplishment.

Just remember that there are no nutrients in water unless you add lemon so be mindful of your food intake and vitamin needs.

There is a variation to the water fast that isn’t daunting and just might provide results…  If you will drink two 8 ounces glasses of chilled water 30 minutes before each meal and upon arising, you will most likely drop pounds when you are mindful of lessening your caloric intake. A dramatic reduction in calorie consumption to 500 to 800 calories a day should be okay during your 3 day fast. Check with your health care provider if you have any health concerns.

Let me know how you fare…Bev has no intention of stopping her water diet. I’m not certain of her weight loss goals but she is well on her way to achieving them.
