Sleeping in Your Makeup Will Age Your Face

My favorite aesthetician, Sharon, keeps my face looking smooth and well maintained. She is meticulous with her craft and has repeatedly iterated that “home care” is more important than what she does once every six weeks.
Yes, she performs her miracles with expert dermaplaning moves and gentle salicylic acid peels but if she ever saw evidence of blotches, enlarged pores and rough, dry skin, she would know in an instant that this was caused by sleeping in day-old makeup.
Sharon believes that for every night you do not wash your face, your faces ages 11 days.
That is shocking – yet – women worldwide think nothing of dropping into bed without thoroughly caring for their faces or even brushing their teeth, let alone taking vitamins to keep their skin looking healthy.
Now maybe these gals who neglect their faces are over worked, or working longer hours on a project or tending to a family with kids who require baths, homework and laundry. Or maybe they are just too lazy to do the little things that add up to creating a healthy, vibrant visage.
Washing your face at night is very easy and only takes a couple of minutes. Here’s how you can multi-task the deed: Move hair away from your face using a headband. Place a dime size amount of cleanser in your hand and add a few drops of water as you apply it generously to your forehead, the sides of your face, the nose, cheeks, lower cheeks, down through all sides of your neck and into your chest. Let this mixture sit for 30 to 60 seconds. In this 30 to 60 second span, practice your Kegel exercises.
Using a clean, warm, wet washcloth, remove the cleanser using lots of water and upward strokes.
Follow with peptide and Vitamin C serums, eye treatment and a rich night cream and rest assuredly that you are taking good care of your skin. Here’s an article from Dailymail.co.uk that explores why neglect ages your face:
