Bucket Hats and Bikinis

Yes, you know summer has arrived when you see bucket hats and bikinis, not just at the pool, or at the beach but everywhere.
Not that I would wear a bikini – well, I might if I succumbed to a total body makeover, but years ago I bought the cutest pale pink bucket hat that saved my face while walking in NYC during a very hot and muggy summer streak. The sun was brutal. Thankfully, there was a hat vendor that persuaded me that I would be grateful to wear something so fashionable and cooling. I was!
Bucket hats can be worn with everything – not just bikinis but these versatile, colorful, face saving hats, are appropriately worn with shorts or slacks, sleeves or sleeveless.
The trick in choosing the most flattering style begins with color coordination of the outfit you’re wearing, particularly the shade and color of your fabric (grab your Jill Kirsh Swatch Book) next to your face and then coordinating your hair color to maximize your overall look with a bucket hat to complement it all.
One smart feature of having several colors of these outfit enhancing hats is that if you’re travelling, they are easily packed (crushed) in a suitcase. These hats that frame your face are pretty resilient so don’t give a lot of thought of how squished they are in your suitcase.
Wearing a bucket hat does create hat hair but who cares when you’re sporting the cutest fashion accessory? Just leave hat your on – it doesn’t have to be removed for dining. It doesn’t have to be removed until the end of the day and then who cares what your hair looks like.
Teens love the bucket hat/bikini combo.
Personally, I love my new sleek black one-piece swimsuit with my red, gold, and black bucket hat.
