Are You Ready for Summer?

I love the change of seasons!

Spring in Oklahoma does present its challenges of severe thunderstorms, frequent tornado warnings, large hailstones, heavy rain, and of course, wind.

As summer approaches, these  ‘awake in the middle of the night’ storms begin to subside and in the place of rain and thunder, hot dry weather is the norm for this area. The once delightful overnight temperatures of 60 degrees or less leave and in its place are super warm digits that seem to dry our skin, especially on legs and feet.

Wearing lighter weight clothing and less of it demands that your skin be summer ready and here are my tips to kickoff this most favorite time of the year…

  1. Slather lotions and oils on your skin daily and especially after a bath or shower.
  2. Keep your legs shaved and well lubricated.
  3. Buy a new swimsuit!
  4. Refill your favorite water bottle four times each day.
  5. Find the perfect wide-brimmed hat and wear it!
  6. Sandal ready feet require neatly trimmed nails.
  7. Choose bright pink toe polish.
  8. Enjoy the sunshine! Tan a little!

Hot weather attracts mosquitoes so sleeping with a fan directed at your bed helps alleviate surprise attacks.

Vacationing away from home? Include your itinerary and emergency contact numbers and keep them handy.

Wear a fanny pack or hands-free handbag.

A staycation is on my radar…yes, I may spend a few days at the Waterford Hotel in Nichols Hills luxuriating at their pool or experience the new Okana Resort on I-40 that promises a waterpark for every age.

A change of scenery, even if for just a day or two, can recharge our batteries. I look forward to that!
