Is “Butter Yellow” the Right Shade for You?

Get out your Swatch Book™.

After admiring several celebs preening their baby Easter chick butter yellow dresses, and even a guy or two walking the catwalk wearing bright yellow jackets in vibrant contrast to what’s normally seen, the butter yellow shades seen everywhere are certainly easy on the eyes, but is this new sensation the right color for you?

Butter yellow is not in my Swatch Book, but deep golden yellow is.

The color-coordinating Swatch Book is based on the color of your hair.

Consider this: you, too, are attracted to the cool tones of butter yellow, but your hair color doesn’t resonate with that particular shade of yellow. If you choose this sensational shade of sunshine, wearing it near your face and hair, you may not see the “pop” that occurs when all the shades are correctly presented.

Jill Kirsh, the Swatch Book and color coordinator guru, suggests adding one of her very unique and glamorous scarves designed specifically from your Swatch Book color collection, to add to your ensemble. Adding a scarf adds that needed “pop” of color to an otherwise drab color.

Here’s Jill’s take on wearing this trendy Spring color:

”Butter Yellow is trending on the Red Carpet. But can everyone truly shine on the carpet in this hue?

Well, everyone can most definitely wear a yellow, but not necessarily Butter Yellow. So what’s your best shade of this bright sunshiny happy color?

Based on your hair color, here are my tips:

Butter yellow is perfection on Warm Blondes, like Elle Fanning, Sabrina Carpenter & Anya Joy Taylor.

If you have Golden Brown, Deep Honey Blonde, or Red Hair, like Christina Hendricks, Tyra Banks & Jennifer Aniston, then you’ll simply shine in Golden Yellow.

Gals with Dark Brown, Black, Salt & Pepper or Silver Hair (think Andi McDowell, Quinta Brunson & Selena Gomez), a bright Clear Yellow is superb.

If your hair is Gray (Grey) or a Light Taupe Brown or Ash (White) Blonde, like Christina Aguilera , Glenn Close & Helen Mirren, then a Light Dusty Yellow is sublime.”

Wearing butter yellow clothing affects how toned your face appears. If butter yellow isn’t in your Swatch Book, your face will not “pop”.  That’s why putting all the ingredients with colorful fabrics and Jill’s array of beauty-enhancing color cosmetics will accentuate your face in the most remarkable ways.
