Mercury Found in High-Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS)

On average, Americans consume 12 teaspoons daily of high-fructose corn syrup (HFCS). Some people, including many teenagers, consume up to 80 percent above that average. A study published in Environmental Health reports that mercury was found in nearly 50 percent of tested samples of commercial HFCS. A separate study by the Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy detected mercury in nearly one-third of 55 popular brand-name products with HFCS as the first or second leading ingredient listed, including Quakers, Hershey’s, Kraft and Smucker’s.

For decades HFCS – along with thousands of other products, including sodium benzoate and citric acid – has been made using mercury-grade caustic soda produced in industrial chlorine plants. Having replaced sugar in many processed foods, HFCS is found today in sweetened beverages, breads, cereals, breakfast bars, lunchmeats, yogurts, soups and condiments.

Winston’s Comments:

Recently, I went to the Renaissance fair and they had these 30 or 40-foot tall vertical walls that one could climb with a safety tether. I saw a majority of the teenagers either flat out refusing to climb it or the few who were having a rough time getting past 5 or 7 feet height. This was quite shocking to me as I had little problem in lifting my 175-pound body and climbing all the way up to the top and I am 56 years old.

One should not be surprised when you consider that the average teenager is consuming roughly 85 pounds of high-fructose corn syrup a year, which happens to be laced with mercury. No wonder they are having a hard time studying, having energy, and being able to function normally!

We really need to educate the younger generation so that they will have healthy bodies that still function when they get older.

Austria Nixes GMO Corn

Austria has banned the importation of Monsanto’s controversial genetically modified corn MON863, which is grown mainly in the United States and Canada. Testing since 2004 reveals damage to the internal organs of rats fed on such a diet. The country has also banned the cultivation of Monsanto’s GM corn MON810, as have France, Hungary, Italy, Greece and Poland, although it is the only GM crop currently grown in the European Union.

Tests reveal that rats fed with this type of corn have fewer and smaller litters, and that toxic leaching from such plants has a detrimental effect on earthworms and other workers of the soil, as well as other forms of wildlife.

Italy’s National Institute of Research on Food and Nutrition recently published the results of their study documenting significant disturbances in the immune system of young and old mice on a diet of MON810, and Britain’s Institute of Science in Society warns, “It is clear that genetic modification is inherently hazardous, as it invariably results in unpredictable and uncontrollable changes in the genome and epigenome (pattern of gene expression) that impact on safety.” Mon810 is soon due for reassessment in the EU.

Winston’s Comments:

It is the various unseen and unexamined side effects that GMOs create in our environment that create a serious impact on nature. GMOs have the ability to destroy all life on Earth as we know it.

This is why I have been preaching for the last 10 years on the necessity to ban GMO crops and require GMO labeling.

Unfortunately, 10 years later, we still do not have any GMO labeling in this country while 60 other countries label GMOs. The GMO contamination in our general food supply has gone from 5% to 90+%, non-certified organic which has GMO contaminations.

You may have noticed that suddenly thousands of people are allergic to wheat and gluten. How can that be? Well, when you consider that GMO wheat has 500 times more gluten than the earlier version hybridized wheat, it is no wonder that we have such a massive epidemic of people who are allergic to wheat and wheat gluten.

It is quite obvious that our governmental safety agencies are woefully failing to protect our health and that it is totally up to us individuals to be educated and to educate others and refuse to consume any form of GMOs, thus voting out GMOs through our wallets.
